new poem, re my personally internalized mantra...

flower moon from inside my tent, cheatham lock a campground in Tennessee

 the last word

052025 by Scott Gardner Merrick

I meditated with my mantra.

It is six words, but I could only

remember five, where is the sixth?

I know that it belongs to the

total thought, the perfect pitch

that harmonizes with itself

and resounds to complete the other five

to remind me just what is alive.

Ah, that is it, mantra complete!

I am good,

I am well,

I am happy,

I am healthy,

I am whole,

I am alive.

Go find a place away from crowds.

Start by speaking all six aloud,

and then repeat until you are so quiet

then quieter, bringing it inside.

Once there, find that tone of resonation

in a place within imagination,

repeating and repeating until within you

there is no effort, no limitation:

I am good,

I am well,

I am happy,

I am healthy,

I am whole,

I am alive.
